Obituary for Charlie R. Timothy
Charlotte “Charlie” Retundo Timothy age 49 passed away surrounded by her family in Peoria, Arizona on Monday, August 28, 2017. She was 49.
Charlie is survived by her husband Christian Timothy of Chandler, Arizona, sons James Pswarai Jr. and Ibby Richardson, both of the United Kingdom. She is also survived by sons Yusuf and Karim Mohammad of Chandler, Arizona.
Charlie was born in Marandellas, Zimbabwe on March 3, 1968 to Joshua and Esinah Sono. She is the seventh of seven children and lived in Zimbabwe with her family. At the age of 12, she was placed in foster care in the UK after the death of her father. She remained in foster care through high school. She then attended nursing school where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Charlie was an accomplished nurse specializing in OB, where she went on to receive her master’s degree in Midwifery, after which she practiced both in the UK and the US. She enjoyed her role as a traveling nurse, which allowed her to work in various countries. She eventually moved to the US in 2013 and worked at several hospitals throughout the Phoenix and Casa Grande area. She recently began traveling to New Mexico serving hospitals as an OB nurse.
Charlie loved to travel and learn new languages, riding her Harley and spending time at home with her family. Charlie’s sons describe her as a very selfless woman; always putting others before herself. This was clearly evident even in the final days of her life. She was known for her electric smile that lit up any room she entered. As a single mom of four she worked tirelessly for her sons’ welfare.
A special thank you to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and the staff on 4B. The Saturday before her sudden death, Charlie and Christian were finally married in the beautiful chapel at Mercy Gilbert. This special occasion was described as the Love Story of the Century.
