Henry Allen Wonsey Sr. died peacefully September 25, 2017 at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Gilbert, Arizona. Henry Sr. was born on July 20, 1944 in Greenville, Mississippi. Henry Sr. was the 7th of 13 children born to Morris William Wonsey Sr. and Conserwiller (Brown) Wonsey. Both parents preceded him in death.
Henry Sr. graduated from Parker High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1962. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963. Henry Sr. completed a 25 year service career in the military serving tours in Vietnam (2), Turkey, England, Phillipines, Iran and Thailand, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Henry Sr. earned the Bronze Star and numerous other medals during his career. It was during this time Henry Sr. met the love of his life, Amporn (Noy) Sriphathart. They were married September 6, 1976. To this union, two sons were born, Henry Allen Wonsey Jr. and Marquis Oen Wonsey.
After retiring from the USAF, Henry Sr. moved his family to Gilbert, Arizona. He was employed at Allied Signal, later employed at Ft McDowell Casino where he retired in March, 2017.
Henry Sr. loved his family, always engaging in enlightened/enthusiastic conversation, and reflective meditation. Nothing pleased him more than being around and sharing with family.
He was a gentle soul, always a smile on his face.
Henry Sr. is survived by his loving wife Amporn (Noy) Wonsey; two sons, Henry Allen Wonsey Jr., Marquis Oen Wonsey; daughter Brodi Ann Banowetz; grandson and his best friend Demetrius Aiden Wonsey; three brothers, Richard Wonsey, Cornelius (Karen) Wonsey, Gregory (Nicole) Wonsey; four sisters, Jacqueline Akons, Doris (Arnold) Hoskin, Julia Muhammad, Patricia (Lawrence) Moody; a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Siblings preceded Henry Sr. in death, Morris William Wonsey Jr., Marquis Vernon Wonsey, Anthony Lenard Wonsey, Douglas Earl Wonsey, Carolyn Rebecca Norfleet.
