Jewell was born in Erwin Tennessee to Paul and Fannie Harvey. She had 1 brother, James Earl, & 2 sisters, Sylvia and Shirley who preceded her in death. Paul Harvey worked for the Clinchfield Railroad as a machinist for 38 before his untimely death at age 56. Fannie, known as MaMaw by everyone was a homemaker.
While growing up in Erwin, Jewell loved roller skating with her friends. After graduating from 8th grade, she worked at Blue Ridge Potter Company, hand painting and making dishes and sets of china. Three years later, Jewell took a job with a company that made soldiers military uniforms. One of her favorite stories was when she, her sisters and mom would make sandwiches and sweets for the soldiers passing thru on the train. The girls would run alongside the train as it slowed thru town and pass the goodies thru the windows to the young men.

Jewell married Steve Edwards SR Aug. 29th 1947. Steve was in the Army. They had three sons: Steve, Paul and Roy.

The family moved to Mesa AZ in 1956. Jewell was divorced in 1964 and raised the boys as a single mom. She worked at Dixon Electronics for several years. In 1966 she attended Rose- Mar College of Beauty, receiving her cosmetology license. She worked for several years at JC Pennys. During those years she and the boys enjoyed lots of adventures. There was Adams Alligator Farm, camping and fishing at Canyon Lake, and any other kind of outdoor fun they could dream up.

After the boys were grown she was remarried for a short time. Living in Texas after her divorce she joined the Merchant Marines out of Beaumont Texas. She served on Mobil Oil tankers for 11 years until her retirement in 1991. She never stayed in one place very long but she was able to see the word, fish and support herself all at the same time. She loved it. Another highlight was a mission trip to Africa in 1990. Jewell was a member of Hi Way Baptist Church from 1985 to 2014, where her foot stool was tucked under her regular pew. She was also involved at Spring of Life church and made many friends there. From 1985 till 1996 Jewell was an active member of cowboy Christian Ministries in E. Meas. Her role was meter/greeter which was perfect for her.

After retirement Jewell settled in Apache Junction AZ near her three grown boys and their families.
Jewell loved to garden and her porch full of plants and flowers were admired by all who visited. She was very crafty, a wonderful seamstress, and loved to crochet. For many years she made Mule Fly masks for her son Steve’s Mule business. Jewell absolutely loved her dogs, Critter and Toby. She was known for decorating her cane and later her walker for each holiday or season. She made many a friend as they would comment on her cute decorations. Jewell kept her Tennessee accent to the very end. She was usually the shortest person in any crowd and was proud of it. She also loved Kentucky Fried Chicken, her son would often tell her if she didn’t eat it so much KFC she wouldn’t be so short. Her kids and family will never forget her laugh while watching funny movies. Jerry Lewis and Lucy were 2 of her favorites.

Jewell lived at Copper Village Memory Care since 2014. She was loved by her house mates and care givers.
Jewell enjoyed going out to lunch and getting her hair done. This is the way she spent the afternoon the day she passed. She had fried chicken for lunch, got her hair done, & that evening she played with her sons dog.
Jewell is preceded in death by her son Roy, & grandsons Eric and Alex.

Surviving her is Steve and wife Susan, Paul and wife Debbie, 5 grandchildren: Sean, Sharlene, Sheila, Jason, Cody, and 7 great grandchildren: Kylee, Jared, Ionica, Hunter, and Silas Waswick. Mason and Wyatt Edwards.
